In fact, Fifty is pretty tame compared to some of the portrayals of BDSM in literature, so pretty much all Fifty has done is bring BDSM to the forefront and make it a more open topic of discussion.
Being that I have a character (Micah Black) who is a master dom with a reputation that precedes him even though he's been "in retirement" for over seven years, and a character (Traceon) who is a submissive in the most extreme sense of the word, I have had to do an immense amount of research into the subject of BDSM. Still, the subject matter of BDSM in fiction is dicey. As an author, I want to make it believable for practitioners, yet erotically acceptable for non-practitioners.
For those who've read my books, Rise of the Fallen and Heart of the Warrior, you're probably already putting two and two together about what's to come between Micah and Traceon, even though Micah has taken a new mate, Samantha. Later this summer, when Micah's Calling (a novella supplement to Rise of the Fallen and to the AKM series) is released, the picture will become even clearer. Micah, Traceon, and Sam, along with one other character who is yet to be introduced in the series, will develop a very unique bond among them. These characters are close, and they will rely on each other in more ways than one as Micah's dom side pushes forward and Traceon's need to fulfill his role of submissive becomes paramount to keeping his extraordinary powers at bay.

I know what you mean. :) I tend to be pretty controlling and don't do being controlled well. My brother said I would have made a great officer in the military, but never would have made it out of BASIC because I don't like following others' order. LOL.

My first book published on March 24 of this year, so I am a new author to a lot of people. :) But fan reaction has been amazing. Some of my books have a heavier BDSM theme than others, but my primary genre is erotic romance, with a flair for paranormal and dark fantasy. :)

I would be a wilful, headstrong and very challenging sub as I tend to baulk at being told what to do. Ask me - Yes, then I'll do anything. Tell me and I'll dig my heels in and refuse. So I wouldn't be a good sub but I am also far too soft to be a dom!!
